The PMI® North India Chapter Quarterly Project Management Seminar held at India Habitat Center, New Delhi inaugurated by Ms. Sonal Chauhan, Miss World Tourism 2005, was as an effective forum for discussion and cross fertilization of ideas among the PMI® North India Chapter members, project managers, executives, industry representatives and academicians who immensely benefited from this premier event and became a part of the very significant deliberations with the enriching presentation by distinguished Speakers. discussed, “New Frontiers in Project Management” emphasizing upon the need of Top-down Portfolio Management approach with Bottom-up Project Management integration.

Dr. K. Jayakumar discussed project management as a key driver in accelerating effective and systematic changes within Government organizations for improving governance. ” Dr. Jayakumar emphasized upon that by laying the right foundation for the development of e-Governance in India , the country's government organizations can transform themselves into citizen-friendly, efficient and high IQ organizations, thereby empowering Indian citizens through smooth service delivery. He also sited in words of Statistics and Program Implementation Minister, Oscar Fernandes, “250 government projects (each above Rs 20 cr) have been hit by cost and time overruns which prompted the government to introduce a system to set standards for managers of mega projects”

performance improvement projects in Tata, RPG, Torrent, and Reliance Energy Group companies, shared his concluding remarks on the entire event and also added how effective project management drives an organization in a proper direction.

Mr. Upendra Giri and panel members did the honors of Unveiling and Facilitating of Project Charter for Project Management Congress 2005. In the words of Mr. Upendra Giri, ‘The objective to achieve project management competency goes beyond mere computerization and seeks to change the operation of the organization & mindset of the stakeholders'. With this he emphasized the need to provide a common platform for sharing the Best Practices in Project Management & acknowledging successful organizations & individuals through the fourthcoming Value packed educational and networking event the "Project Management Congress 2005" to be held on 10 th – 11 th Nov. at New Delhi, under the PMI® North India Chapter banner.
PMI® North India Chapter Board called for members support and volunteerism to make the November event a grand success. With PMI® Chairman Louis Mercken & CEO, Gregory Balestrero coming to India for the first time for Project Management Congress 2005, India is fast moving towards ushering in an age of e- governance, realizing President APJ Kalam's vision 2020.
