The Project Management Congress - PMiCon2005- under the aegis of Project Management Institute (PMI®), the world's leading professional association for the project management profession, was organised by PMI-North India Chapter at the InterContinental, New Delhi from November 10, 2005 – November 11, 2005. The theme for the PMiCon2005 was “Achieving India Inc. Objectives with Project Management Excellence”.
This was the first time that the Congress took place in India and provided an excellent platform for project practitioners, academicians and professionals together to participate, share, publish and leverage experiences and best practices in project management. The occasion was graced by the presence of PMI CEO, Gregory Balestrero, and Vice Chairman, Iain Fraser.
The two-day Congress got started on Thursday, 10 th November with a keynote address by Gregory Balestrero and on 11 th November, the keynote address was delivered by Mr. Brijesh Kumar, I.A.S., IT Secretary – DIT, Government of India.
Project Management Congress 2005, was the pioneering effort towards promoting best practices in Project Management in India . This Congress based on the theme “Achieving India Inc. Objectives with Project Management Excellence” was enriching in experience for the people who are already member of PMI as well as for non members.

For India – which is witnessing a significant infrastructure growth – the biggest challenge would be project integration. This will be driven by ongoing projects in infrastructure, highways, power amongst others – where there will
be a demand for professionals who can improve the project performance on parameters, such as managing costs and deadlines, achieving the value deliverables and mitigating risks.”
